Tinshing Dojang
Tinshing Dojang (TSDJ)'s teaching philosophy is ‘We can all do the Same’ Founded in 2013, TSDJ has quietly been offering Hapkido and Taekwondo classes, as well as Hapkido and Taekwondo classes for Juniors with SEN (Special Education Needs), ethnic minorities and fitness classes for the elderly. Later, it established para Hapkido and Taekwondo classes at organisations such as The Hong Kong Joint Council of Parents of the Mentally Handicapped (HKJCPMH), the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association (HKDSA), The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (NAAC), Lok Chi Association and Po Kwong School. Using small class sizes and unique visual cue cards, students can more easily understand the instructor's instructions and practice at home using the cue cards. Directors of special schools and special centres have praised the cue cards, realizing that with a little effort, SEN students can learn even better, further demonstrating the philosophy ‘We can all do the same’.
To provide students with better opportunities for athletic development, TSDJ became the member of federation Hapkido Hong Kong, China in 2024. TSDJ teaches students with SEN based on the Hapkido philosophy of ‘Harmony, Inclusion, and Nonviolent’. It is also dedicated to developing and promoting Hapkido in Hong Kong. In 2025, 16 students from TSDJ (more than half of whom have SEN, including ADHD, dyslexia, and social difficulties) became members of the Hong Kong Hapkido Team. Two of these students represented Hong Kong and won one silver and one bronze medal at the Hoshinsul-Hyung Competition of the SEAHU Championships 2025.

Introducing a Korean Martial Art
About Hapkido
The philosophical core of Hapkido revolves around three basic principles that emphasize the coordination of body and mind and the use of energy, rather than mere confrontation of force.
Hap: Fusion and Coordination, Hap means to combine the spirit (heart), physical body (body) and technology (technique) into one. Martial arts practitioners pursue the realm of internal and external unity, and when dealing with their opponents, they are able to integrate themselves into the situation, control the overall situation, and achieve a state of physical and mental harmony.
Ki: The use of life energy Ki refers to the energy or inner power in life. Hapkido is not only physical training, but also a method of systematically coordinating energy in the body. The practitioner learns how to guide and use this energy so that it flows to the opponent through technology at critical moments, achieving the effect of ‘leveraging force’ and ‘overcoming strength with softness’.
Do: method and way of cultivation, Do represents the way, method or process of cultivation. Hapkido is not only a self-defense martial art, but also a philosophy of life and a continuous and constant process of cultivation. It guides martial arts practitioners to be as flexible and adaptable as water when faced with obstacles. The philosophy of Hapkido emphasises harmony, harmony, and non-violence, achieving the goals of defense and personal cultivation by coordinating one's own inner energy and adapting to changes in the external environment.
